what is the best way for a 8 year old to learn to play the drums, should he start with a snare or drum set?
We are planning to buy him some drums but since he likes both the sounds of the snare drum and the drum set, we cant make up our minds. he is a begginer so we are trying to start him off on the right foot.
8 years is the perfect age to have a child begin learning drums. By this age, they are used to the routine of school, which is so important to the study of music.
My advice would be to find a good drum teacher. Try out a few and see which one your child works the best with. They will be able to help you further.
In general, it’s best to start a beginning drummer (child or adult) on a snare drum. Drumming skills are built on solid foundation of snare drum technique. Once you learn how to do it correctly on one drum, moving to a drum set will be easy and more fun.
